Armenia Weekend Getaway

Welcome to Yerevan. Your weekend getaway kicks off as you arrive at Zvartnots International Airport with transfer provided to the hotel you’ll be residing for the next 4 days. Check into hotel. Yerevan city tour guided by an expert, which is Part 1 of “Armenian Culture”. Start with a tour of Echmiadzin the holy epicenter of the Armenian Apostolic Church and the residence of all Catholics in Armenia. The Armenian Church built here is considered the oldest cathedral in Armenia and the world. Followed by a visit to the Ruins of Zvartnot; a compound structure entitled a UNESCO World Heritage Site, immensely valuable to the primitive Armenian architecture. Continue on to the History Museum of Armenia, Tsitsernakaberd Memorial paying tribute to the victims of the Armenian Genocide, Republic Square, Opera House and ending at the Cascade Architectural Complex, a massive yet intricate 5 level stairway. Atop the stairs, catch an unblemished view of Yerevan city and Mount Ararat in the background. Later evening is free for leisure. Overnight in Yerevan.

Wake up to a crisp morning and a hot breakfast buffet. After an energizing meal venture out in the city on your own OR Part 2 of your “Armenian Culture” is a full day jaunt to Lake Sevan. Sevan is the heart and soul of Armenia. Lake Sevan; elevated at 1900m above sea level is known as one of the largest sweet water lakes in the world. Sevanavank monastery located atop the peninsula of Sevan offers the most prolific views of the lake followed by a delicious lunch. Next, depart to Dilijan; a hospitable spa town of the Tavush Region. Also known as “Little Switzerland“ of Armenia with abundant breath–taking landscapes bordered by untamed forests making this spot a goldmine for leisure activities. Did you know this town is home to Armenia’s trendiest craftsmen, artists, filmmakers etc. This is a popular spot for locals, neighboring countries and others to get away from the heat in summer. While in Dilijan, take a quick trip to the forest to find a well preserved 13th Century Monastery of Haghartsin cushioned right in. Evening transfer back to the hotel. Overnight in Yeravan.

Wake up to a beautiful morning and enjoy a hot breakfast buffet. The day is free to do as you please OR join us for the optional tour of Tatev & Ararat Valley with Lunch. Drive across the lush plains of Ararat Valley and get to Khor Virap Monastery. This is where the history of Christianity began in Armenia set against the majestic backdrop of Mount Ararat. Gorgeous photo opportunities before a landscape of such unhinged beauty. The monastery was the exact site where St. Gregory was caged and is also a pilgrimage destination for his followers. Move on to the Areni Winery to kindle your taste buds followed by an expert guided tour of the winery. There is a famous quote in Armenian that translates to “Wine is bottled poetry”. Next, continue through the narrow canyon leading to the Noravank Monastery cuddled inside the deep red landscape of the tuf stone mountains. Next, make your way to Tatev Monastery with the expert guide. You’re in for an unforgettable experience! Step on the world’s longest cable car covering a distance of 5.7 Km steeping at an incredible 1056ft. Enjoy breathtaking view as you are swept away passing over the Vorotan River, landing at the Tatev monastery complex perched on the cliff. Founded in the 4th century, It is one of the largest and oldest Monasteries in Armenia. Enjoy some picture perfect vistas from here with free time to explore the interiors of the monastery. Continue on to the Devil’s Bridge; an awe-striking miracle of nature. In the depth of 700-800 meters is a 30 meter long pathway enclosed by mountain springs. The mineralized water has added a pink, yellow and green hue to the mountain rocks. Its name is derived from the innate being of the bridge as so creatively unique; it cannot be the work of man. Replenish with Lunch at the foothills. In the evening, return to the hotel and dig into an appetizing dinner. Overnight in Yerevan.
